Welcome to Our Updated Farmhouse Tour
Summer 2025 marks a significant milestone in the evolution of our farmhouse property, nestled on approximately 2.75 acres of lush Oregon land. After years of dedicated work, we can finally showcase the transformation that has turned this property into our dream home. The yard has become a lively gathering spot for friends and family, with the sounds of laughter from children and games of corn hole echoing through the summer air.
Exploring the Property Layout
To give you a clearer picture of our expansive property, we decided to share an overhead view that captures the layout and its various elements. This includes pockets of overgrowth that can seem daunting but contribute to the property’s rustic charm. While we dream of a perfect landscape, we've learned to embrace the quirks of our driveway lined with native Hawthorne trees and invasive blackberries—elements that some local visitors might not find as charming as our friends from out of state.
The Heart of Our Farmhouse
Arriving at the house itself feels monumental; it's more than we ever imagined owning. For someone who feels perpetually young at heart, the sheer size and beauty of this home can be overwhelming. The journey has had its challenges, and yet seeing the covered walkway at the end of the driveway as a feature of the home gives me immense joy.
Community Connection and Personal Growth
As our home continues to evolve, it reflects not just the physical changes, but also our personal growth. Naming the trees—plums, pears, and apples—holds a certain sentimental value, yet we acknowledge that they require attention and care, which we plan to tackle next spring with the help of an experienced arborist. Our vision is to replace unruly grass with flourishing clover, contributing to a healthier ecosystem.
Planning for the Future
As we consider next steps, simple additions like more hydrangeas will add color and beauty to our space. It’s an exciting journey that demonstrates our commitment to making this house a true home. The progress we've made in the past few years inspires us to look forward with optimism and creativity, both in aesthetics and functionality.
