Hilltip Introduces Advanced Auger Spreaders for Better Truck Compatibility
Hilltip has unveiled its new extended auger models in the AM series combination spreaders, designed to enhance the efficiency of spreading granular materials like salt, sand, and liquid deicer. These innovative spreaders have been tailored for use with pickup and light-duty trucks, providing a much-needed solution for contractors in the home service industry.
Enhanced Design for Optimal Performance
The extended auger design allows the hopper to be positioned much closer to the truck's bulkhead, which significantly improves weight distribution and vehicle stability during operation. Ranging in capacities from 2.0 to 4.2 cubic yards, these spreaders are powered by robust 12- or 24-volt dual motors and are built with durable polyethylene hopper bodies, ensuring they withstand the elements and resist corrosion due to their six-inch stainless-steel augers.
Versatile and Adaptable Features
What sets these spreaders apart is their adaptability. The AM series not only features an optional retrofit kit for older models—allowing users to update existing equipment without complete replacement—but also includes capabilities for advanced applications. Users can add features like pre-wetting nozzles and a hose reel, making them ideal for anti-icing and de-icing operations.
Tech-Enabled Efficiency
In today’s digital age, efficiency is key, and Hilltip doesn’t fall short. The AM series spreaders are compatible with Hilltip’s StrikeSmart Plus controller that employs the TempStriker sensor. This technology continuously assesses important variables, such as temperature, humidity, and surface condition, tailoring recommendations for material usage based on real-time weather forecasts. Furthermore, the integration of Hilltip’s HTrack software enables users to monitor and manage their spreaders remotely, enhancing operational oversight.
The Impact of Supply Chain Evolution
As highlighted by Craig Sandmann, managing director for Hilltip North America, recent supply chain disruptions have significantly boosted the demand for interchangeable work truck beds. His observations reflect a shift in the industry towards more flexible and efficient equipment solutions, which the new extended auger spreaders effectively provide.
Importance for Home Service Contractors
This launch is especially pertinent for home service businesses like HVAC contractors, plumbers, and renovation specialists, who require reliable and versatile equipment to handle varying operational demands, particularly as winter approaches. In addition to improving efficiency, these tools can enhance service quality for clients, making them a significant asset for professionals in the field.
