Building Future Careers in Fenestration
This week at SEH BAC, we had the pleasure of welcoming two Year 10 students for their work experience placement. Over the course of several days, these students were offered a vivid look into the diverse range of roles available in the UK fenestration industry. Their experience spanned various departments, where they shadowed administrative staff, accountants, customer service, and warranty teams to see how these functions converge to optimize customer experience and support product integrity.
A Day in the Life of Fenestration Professionals
It wasn't just desk work; the students also ventured out into the field with our seasoned project managers. They witnessed ongoing conservatory and extension builds as well as window and door installations. This hands-on exposure highlighted the craftsmanship, problem-solving skills, and professionalism that our team embodies.
The Impact of Work Experience on Young Minds
The feedback from the students was overwhelmingly positive—terms like "eye-opening," "fast-paced," and "fun" were often mentioned. Most importantly, this experience broadened their horizons and opened their eyes to the multitude of career opportunities that exist within the fenestration sector.
Encouraging Future Talent in Home Services
For home service businesses, such as HVAC contractors and renovation specialists, nurturing young talent through initiatives like work experience weeks can greatly benefit the industry. Cultivating interest and skills in the next generation ensures a steady influx of capable and enthusiastic workers who can innovate and elevate the standards of home improvement services.
Investing in the future by offering such experiences cultivates a talent pipeline that can adapt to evolving industry challenges and changes. With the skills they gain, these students represent the next wave of professionals who can contribute significantly to the home service landscape.
